Everybody has their own ways to dry hair quickly, but some prefer drying hair with towels rather than blow dryers. Some use a towel to absorb most of the dampness from hair and then blow dry hair. This way, they reduce the blow-drying duration and the damage that hair dryers cause. However, most people do not know how to wrap a towel around your head.

Step #1 Choose the Right Towel For Your Hair

Let’s take it from the beginning- all hair types are not the same, so you will need to pick the right towel for your hair type and length. Tips for choosing the best hair towel for your hair:

  • Pick a hair towel that will be long enough to cover all of your hair and make a towel turban.
  • Short towels can loosen and fall off from your head, so even if you have short hair, it is best to choose a long enough towel to wrap around your head.
  • You can choose a microfiber towel to wrap your hair. Microfiber towels are soft and they don’t damage hair.
  • Another option is picking a 100% cotton towel. Premium cotton towels of RobesNmore absorb the dampness of your hair and help it dry faster. Their pure softness provides a gentle touch on your hair and skin. So, they don’t cause any damage to your hair which makes them an excellent cut out for a towel turban.

Step #2 Blot Your Hair to Remove Excess Water

The second step on how to wrap a towel around your head is blotting it. If your hair is dripping wet, it will leak out from your hair wrap. This is why you should blot your hair to remove the excess water first.

You can press your hair between the folds of a towel, especially if you have long hair or squeeze your hair to get rid of the excess water. Just make sure that your hair is not dripping wet before moving to the next step.

Step #3 Comb Your Hair to Untangle It

You can ensure that you know exactly how to wrap a towel around your head with this step; detangling your hair. If you have long hair, you shouldn’t skip combing your hair or your hair will be tangled and knotted when you unwrap the towel.

This is because your hair will dry in the towel and it is something of a challenge to comb out tangled dry hair. If your hair is wavy and you don’t want to harm your curls, then you can comb with your hands.

Step #4 Flip Your Hair Over Your Head

Bend over and flip your hair frontwards. Then bring all your hair in front of your face. You can use a comb to detangle again if you like.

Step #5 Wrap a Towel Around Your Head

After flipping your hair, the next step on how to wrap a towel around your head is positioning your head at the center of your head. If the towel is not long enough to cover some part of your hair lengths, then you can adjust the towel by pulling it more towards the lengths.

Hold each side of your towel and bring them together toward the front of your head, in the middle of your hairline. Don’t wrap it loosely or it can fall off.

Once you bring the ends of your towel in the middle, just twist the towel. Twisting the towel will ensure it holds your hair in place. You shouldn't twist too tightly as it can damage your hair.

Step #6 Flip It Back

Now that your hair is wrapped in the towel, you can finally stand upright securing the towel. Flip the twisted towel backward over your head so that it falls behind you. You can clip the end of the towel in place to secure it.

Step #7 Wait Till It Dries

Keep your hair around 30-60 minutes depending on the length of your hair. Then you can flip and unwrap the towel. It usually doesn’t fully dry. You can let your hair air dry for some time after unwrapping the hair towel. And that’s it, now you know how to wrap a towel around your head!
